Many thanks for posting this extraordinary article from an extraordinary writer - Manoj Das.I had read somewhere Sri Aurobindo words, "Even if Science - physical Science or the occult Science, - were to discover the necessary conditions or the means for an indefinite survival of the body......" and was looking for it since long. Now I found that quote back from this illuminating article.Aryadeep S. Acharya
First :The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining or couchant sphinx (a mythical creature with a lion's body and a human head) that stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the face of the Pharaoh Khafra.----In every era people dreamed of eternal life, and they meant physical life.In Christian faith the soul lives forever, but the people want to keep their ''life'' with all what they have,a spiritual life in great consciousness after death is hard to imagine. If we start from the situation in the large number of inhabitants of the earthwould be a physical life not possible for all-so death is a good solution. The belief on an afterlife is a consolation for many.We should take Sri Aurobindo's words to our mind:''Immortality is one of the possible results of supramentalisation ,but it is not an obligatory result and it does not mean that there will be an eternal or indefinite prolongation of life as it is.'''
On a good book I would like to draw attention.''Proof of Heaven'' written by Eben Alexander. The renowned Harvard brain expert did a Near-Death-Experience- when he felt for seven days in a coma.He saw wonderful golden light and heard music. Before this experience he looked at such experiences as fantasy.---Death, the big unknown in our life evokes fear in many people.Maybe this book takes away a little fear. Not all people have a strong faith in a second life for the soul, or faith in rebirth.
